SAD ANIMATION is a Costa Rican-based artist-creative duo consisting of Karina Torres and Diego Duran. We've been creating playful 3D designs and motion graphics since 2020. We are passionate about how everything is connected: design, art, nature, technology, the physical and the digital ecological landscapes.

We like to explore new visual styles by incorporating different disciplines, media and processes, such as VR, 3D and interactive web desing. We craft synthetic realities that manifest as design and art animation.

We are influenced by associative references to the characteristics of their immediate environment. Many of them are imbued with a narrative humor, which brings a new perspective to these everyday objects and situations.

We have worked with international clients and local brands. We also participated at the Pictoplasma-20º Edition Contemporary Character Design and Art in Berlin, Alemania, 2024.

Diego Duran (b.1993) graduated in 2021 from Universidad de Costa Rica, San Jose, Costa Rica. Karina Torres (b.1995) graduated in 2020 from Universidad de Costa Rica, San Jose, Costa Rica.
